Dr. Deepak Mangla
Dr. Mangla is a board certified vitreo-retinal surgeon with extensive training and experience in diagnosing and treating retinal diseases such as macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal vein occlusions, trauma, macular holes and retinal detachments.
Dr. Mangla finished his medical school training at Albany Medical College and then went on to do his residency at Northwestern University. He then pursued a 2-year fellowship in vitreoretinal disease and surgery at one of the most coveted training programs in the country, Wolfe Eye Clinic in Des Moines, Iowa where he trained with some of the most prominent figures in the world of retina and performed over 1000 surgeries. Dr. Mangla has been involved in extensive research and publication and plans to bring that innovation to the Michigan Thumb and beyond.
After training and working for years out of state, Dr. Mangla is excited to be back near his family, here in the greater Detroit area. Outside of spending much of his free time with friends and family, Dr. Mangla also enjoys traveling with his soon-to-be wife, flying, sailing, golfing (although he isn’t the greatest), and last but not least, perfecting his homemade pizza!
